Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities will be field work consisting of forest inventories, timber and boundary marking, collecting GPS field data, in addition to other detailed organizational skills with files and paperwork. The field time work may consist of up to 30% out-of-town work annually. Travel periods may exceed 30% during the year, with the changing workflow throughout the year. This travel percentage is not likely to change much annually with promotion and career development.

Requirements

We are seeking highly motivated individuals with the ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment. A minimum two-year forestry degree is required. An additional 2 to 3 years’ experience in a similar forestry field is preferred. Computer skills and other digital skills will be necessary. Good written and verbal communication skills are required.

Essential Functions

Includes the ability to traverse distances over one mile on uneven terrain, work in outdoor forested areas for extended periods in a variety of environmental conditions, and occasionally carry 5 to 10 pounds of equipment over longer distances for extended periods of time.  Must be able to work independently during a work week and complete tasks in a timely manner. Must have an insurable driving record.

Expectations

Fast learner who embraces new technology in a digital format. Must be a self-starter and willing to pursue SAF’s Candidate Certified and/or Certified Forester, GA Registered Forester, and UAS licenses. Field forestry work remains at the core of what we do as consulting foresters.  The goal is to develop and enhance skills in other core areas for promotion and career development.

Salary

Commensurate with experience and education.
